What it is

Big Poppa Smokers Double Secret Steak Rub is a salty, garlicky, peppery beef rub with a full umami flavour that gives meat a classic steakhouse character. Big Poppa Smokers founder Sterling “Big Poppa” Ball is a member of the BBQ Hall of Fame, and his competition team has taken over 140 first-place finishes and more than 80 Grand Champion or Reserve Grand Champion titles. Double Secret Steak Rub uses coarse sea salt, garlic, onion, paprika, lemon and spices that support the natural flavour of beef without overpowering it. This BBQ rub works particularly well on ribeye steak, beef tenderloin, tri-tip, burgers and beef roasts, and can also be used on brisket. Double Secret works equally well on baked potatoes, chips, eggs and grilled vegetables. Use the rub before grilling, pan-searing or low and slow smoking.

GRILLY comments

We would reach for Double Secret first on a proper ribeye, tri-tip or burger patty. The coarse salt and peppery-garlicky flavour build a good bark on the meat, while a good steak still tastes like a steak. Because salt is well represented in the blend, there is no need to pre-salt the meat separately.
