What it is

Blues Hog Original is a thick, American-style BBQ sauce with a sweet flavour and a peppery finish that clings well to meat and sets into a glossy glaze during cooking. It is a well-known competition BBQ sauce, having taken the People’s Choice award at the American Royal and earned the “Best Baste on the Planet” title. The generous sweetness is balanced by moderate heat, a crack of black pepper and a gentle acidity. Blues Hog Original works particularly well on ribs, pulled pork, pork belly, chicken, chicken wings, beef brisket and fish. You can use it as a marinade, a dipping sauce, a basting sauce during the cook, or as a glaze towards the end of a low and slow smoke. The thick consistency means a single even, thin coat is all the meat needs.

Original brings sweetness, a solid glaze and a beautiful shine; Tennessee Red adds tartness and a peppery kick when you need it. We use Original freely on ribs and chicken wings, but be careful over high heat — a sweet sauce can catch and burn quickly.
