What it is

Blues Hog Sweet and Savory is a well-balanced dry rub where sweet spices meet a gentle heat and a light smoky note. Blues Hog owner Tim Scheer has won over 35 Grand Champion titles and taken both the overall win and the world championship at Memphis in May. Blues Hog Sweet and Savory works particularly well on pork, ribs, beef brisket and chicken, but you can just as easily use it on prawns, fish, vegetables and skewers. The rub includes paprika, garlic, onion, molasses and natural hickory smoke flavour, among other things. It suits grilling, smoking and low and slow cooking alike. Blues Hog Sweet and Savory builds an even sweet and salty layer on the meat without the mild heat drowning out the flavour of what you’re actually cooking.

GRILLY comments

For us this is a go-to rub, especially when you’ve got people around the table with different tolerances for heat. We’d reach for it first on ribs, pulled pork and chicken thighs — but honestly, it does a fine job on chips too. There’s enough sweetness to get a proper BBQ flavour without the result tipping over into candy territory.
