What it is

Angus & Oink Phat Taco Sauce is a Mexican-style chilli sauce with a smoky chipotle flavour and moderate heat. Angus & Oink was founded in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, by Scott and Malissa Fraser, whose sauces and BBQ rubs are rooted in authentic flavours and fire-cooking cultures encountered across the world. Phat Taco Sauce is not aggressively hot — the focus is on deep smokiness, warm spice and a rich Mexican flavour combination. It works particularly well with tacos, enchiladas, nachos, burritos and other Tex-Mex dishes. You can also use it with pork, chicken, beef, prawns and grilled vegetables, or inside a burger or wrap. In Angus & Oink’s official recipes, Phat Taco Sauce features in al pastor-style pork tacos, prawn tacos, chicken adobo, coleslaw and beef skewers, among others.

We’d put this on tacos, grilled chicken and pulled pork whenever you want that smoky hit without every bite bringing tears to your eyes. Phat Taco is also a solid choice if the usual sweet BBQ sauce is starting to feel a bit one-note. It works especially well alongside fresh coleslaw, lime and fattier cuts of meat.
