Barbecoa Smokey Beef BBQ Sauce

What it is

Barbecoa Smokey Beef BBQ sauce is a smoky BBQ sauce with a bold, savoury and deeply umami flavour, created specifically to complement beef. The recipe was developed by European BBQ brisket champion Tom Bertels and is based on the sauce with which Barbecoa won the European brisket title. Barbecoa Smokey Beef BBQ sauce has a gentle smokiness, moderate sweetness and a full flavour of garlic, onion, tomato and spices. It works particularly well on steaks, brisket, pulled beef, beef ribs, burgers and beef stews. Use Barbecoa Smokey Beef BBQ sauce warm or cold as a finishing sauce, stir it through pulled beef, or add it to a stew for a deeper umami and smoky flavour. The sauce is designed to amplify the flavour of the meat, not to bury quality beef under a sweet BBQ sauce.

GRILLY comments

Our first move would be to put this on a proper steak, brisket or pulled beef burger. It is more of a full-bodied beef sauce than your typical very sweet rib sauce, so it pairs especially well with meat that has a dark bark and a strong smoke flavour. We would not cook it directly over a flame, as the sugar in the sauce can catch and burn quickly.
