Angus & Oink Char Siu Chinese BBQ rub is inspired by traditional Cantonese-style Char Siu pork. A sweet, savoury and aromatically spiced rub combines smoked paprika, anise, cinnamon, fennel, coriander and garlic, creating that familiar Chinese BBQ flavour and an appetising reddish colour.
Char Siu rub works particularly well for seasoning pork belly, ribs, pork shoulder and tenderloin. It also performs brilliantly on chicken wings, duck and even roasted vegetables. Add it to stir-fries, noodles or roast potatoes when you want a sweet, aromatic Asian note.

Char Siu is not your average BBQ rub. Here, sweetness, smokiness and the warm spices characteristic of Chinese cooking all come together. The anise and cinnamon are clearly present in the flavour, yet they never make the blend feel overpowering. The result is a deep, lightly caramelised taste that pairs especially well with fattier cuts of pork.
Your safest bet is pork belly or boneless rib meat. During cooking, the meat develops a striking reddish crust and a juicy, sweet-savoury BBQ flavour. Char Siu chicken wings are also excellent — particularly if you brush them with Barbecoa Korean chicken sauce towards the end of the cook.
