What it is

Southern Dutch A Touch of Sweet is a sweet and mild BBQ rub designed primarily for seasoning chicken and pork. Southern Dutch BBQ is one of Europe’s most successful competition BBQ teams, and their rubs have helped them take home dozens of awards across Europe and the United States. At the 2019 American Royal Rub Contest, Southern Dutch A Touch of Sweet beat 199 competitors in the mild rubs category. In 2023, it earned a perfect score at the same competition and finished third in its category. This BBQ rub works particularly well on pork ribs, pulled pork, pork shoulder, chicken thighs and chicken wings. Southern Dutch A Touch of Sweet can be used as a dry rub before grilling, oven-roasting or low and slow smoking.

We’d reach for A Touch of Sweet first and foremost for ribs and chicken — that’s where a sweet BBQ flavour really earns its keep. It’s a mild rub, so there’s no heat to worry about, and you can confidently put it in front of the whole crowd. On pulled pork, we’d use it as the outer layer to build a good-looking, flavoursome bark.
