What it is

Angus & Oink Japanese rub is a rub inspired by the flavour world of Japanese Togarashi, bringing together sesame seeds, nori seaweed, orange peel, ginger and Sansho pepper. The result is an aromatic blend that delivers savouriness, a touch of sweetness, citrusy freshness, umami and a pleasant heat all at once.

The rub works particularly well on tuna, salmon, prawns, scallops and other seafood. It also gives excellent results on beef steak, Wagyu beef, chicken thighs, chicken wings, noodle dishes, rice and grilled vegetables.

GRILLY comments

Japanese rub stands apart from a typical BBQ rub with its distinctly umami and citrusy character. Nori and tamari give the blend depth, sesame seeds add a nutty nuance, and Sansho pepper brings a fresh, lightly tingling heat.

Our first choice would be a tuna steak or quickly grilled beef. With high-quality ingredients you don’t need to overload the flavour — a light coat of Japanese rub, a hot grill and a short cook time are more than enough.

The rub also works very well on chicken. Season the thigh meat, let it sit for a while, then cook until crispy.
