What it is
Burnt Finger BBQ Spicy KC BBQ sauce is a full-bodied, sweet, smoky and moderately spicy Kansas City-style BBQ sauce. Behind Burnt Finger BBQ are Kansas City pitmasters Megan and Jason Day, whose team has won awards at the American Royal World Series of Barbecue, the Memphis in May competition and the World Food Championships. Spicy KC won the tomato-based BBQ sauce category at Memphis in May in 2022, and in 2024 took the title of Best Sauce on the Planet at the American Royal, beating 363 commercial sauces. Burnt Finger BBQ Spicy KC is built on the brand’s classic Smokey KC sauce, but with more heat and a subtle chipotle chilli note. The sauce works on brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, chicken, burgers, chicken wings, chips, sandwiches, pizza and grilled vegetables. Use Burnt Finger BBQ Spicy KC BBQ sauce to finish smoked meat, as a glaze at the end of grilling, in a burger, or as a dipping sauce.
GRILLY comments
Our first move with Spicy KC would be on pork ribs, chicken wings or a pulled pork burger. There is enough heat here to make it more interesting than your average sweet Kansas City sauce, but the chipotle does not steamroll the other flavours. On ribs, brush the sauce on only in the final minutes of cooking — a sweet BBQ sauce can catch and burn quickly over serious heat.
